Early morning pictures

Early morning view from my balcony. The small tanker on the Danish side of Øresund is the OW Scandinavia.

An old Swedish proverb says "morning hour has gold in its mouth". The English equivalent is "the early bird catches the worm", which perhaps does not sound so good in connection with this early morning picture, shot at about 5.45 this morning.

The English version is probably more suitable for the picture below, also shot before 6 A.M. this morning:

Blackbird early in the morning - still without the worm.

A grey heron and the tugboat Tugmarit in Øresund

Last night, a grey heron watched the small tugboat Tugmarit pass by at the Hittarp reef:

Tonight we enjoyed a wonderful sunset here in the Øresund region! I shot the picture at the Hittarp reef.

A Great Tit Eating

There have been quite a few images of birds in this blog recently - and here are some more:

Hello, photographer!

Sunflower seeds are my favourites.

Just resting for a second.

A Blue Tit and a Great Tit in my Garden this Morning

The cold winter weather makes it difficult for birds to find something to eat in the nearby nature reserve. Many of them choose to taste the food on offer in my garden. For me they give a nice opportunity to take pictures through my living room window:

A great tit has also found something to eat.

A lady blackbird in my garden

This time of the year various birds are a nice addition in my small garden. My small food offering hopefully makes their visits a little more enjoyable. At least this lady blackbird seemed to enjoy the meal early this morning:

Blue tits are other frequent visitors this time of the year. This straight looking one was about to enjoy breakfast this morning:

A bird of prey?

Is this a bird of prey?

Late this afternoon, while walking on the sea shore, I almost accidentally pointed my camera on a bird flying above the water. At the time, I did not pay much attention to the bird, which quickly disappeared in a southerly direction. However, back home I had a closer look.

There were many seagulls around at the beach, but surely this cannot be a gull. To me it rather lookslike a bird of prey. My ornithological skills are very modest, indeed, so if somebody can help me out, I would be most grateful!

PS

It is of course difficult to ascertain which bird it is when you can't see the head, but a friend of mine suggested that it could be a Caspian gull, and thus not a bird of prey. So, probably no bird of prey, after all.

The beauty of a grey and foggy day

Even a grey and foggy day has its beauty. I shot these pictures from the Hittarp bathing pier in the early afternoon today:

The Rabbit and the Magpie

Today, when I tried to photograph a rabbit resting under a small tree, a magpie landed
in front of the rabbit. The magpie soon noticed the rabbit:

At this stage the magpie had not yet noticed the rabbit.

A moment later the rabbit aroused the bird's curiosity.

The magpie was did not seem to bother the least when the curious magpie closed in on it.

Here the two are gazing at each other at very close distance.

At one stage the magpie almost touched the rabbit, which stayed put.

It looked almost as if the magpie wanted to communicate something to the rabbit.
He did not appear aggressive, although I am aware of magpies attacking rabbits.

Then the magpie saw a crow approach, and decided to leave.

The crow landed and started walking, without showing any interest in the rabbit, which
continued its afternoon rest.

PS
After the magpie "incident" I had a chance to continue my original plan.
Below is a selection of the rabbit pictures I shot this afternoon:
