day and hour media, politicians, experts - and charlatans - bring us
a never ending barrage of bad things. No wonder that many people feel
depressed and weary.
This blog tries - in a modest and personal way - to contribute to a more
balanced view. After all, there is so much to appreciate and
enjoy in life ...

A sad day in the history of Swedish football
In memory of a football fan who was killed in Helsingborg by a football hooligan:
This is just so sad, especially for one family, but also for Djurgarden AND for all of world soccer and sport as a whole.
Unfortunately the act of being a "sport" in such activities, not just limited to "soccer", has become lost, in no small part to corporate and business sponsorship and requirement for continually increasing profits, one of the ironies of capitalism.
Some would also say there is a reluctance on the part of society to appropriately punish offenders. Punishment does not mean flogging or physically abusing the offender, it means making the offender do hard labor, and the suspension or withdrawal of privileges of freedom of movement while serving sentences, or attending public functions like sporting events when released.
Some might also say these are the risks inherent in attending such events; to which my response would be that is just a "cop out" in not dealing with the root cause in an appropriate way.
This is just so sad and my heart goes out to the family of the victim.
