This was the view over Øresund to Denmark at 6 PM tonight:

Two cyclists

These two cyclists were this afternoon going southwards in Hittarp:

Mölle in Winter

The nearby seaside resort Mölle is a rather quiet place this time of the year:

The Harpsichord - The World's Most Beautiful Instrument

If there was a poll about which instrument is the most beautiful, my vote would go to the harpsichord (cembalo). The shape of a harpsichord is beautiful as such, but what makes some of the historic instruments stand out, are the magnificent decorative images painted on them.

This 1682 harpsichord was photographed in Rome's Rospigliosi palace in ca 1897. The owner was Prince Rospigliosi. The Rospigliosi-Pallavicini family still owns the palace, but whether the instrument still is there, I do not know.

In case you are interested in harpsichords and harpsichord music, and excellent source is this site.

French inventor Heilmann's steam-electric locomotive from 1897

Heilmann's steam-electric locomotive looked surprisingly modern.

This is one of French inventor Jean Jacques Heilmann's two steam-electric locomotives built in 1897 for the French  Chemin de Fer de l'Ouest company. Although the trains did not reach mass production, they can be considered the precursors of later diesel-electric locomotives and other self powered locomotives which use an electric transmission.

The Mount Rainier National Park in Washington State in the early 1920s

Unfortunately I never came to visit the Mount Rainier National Park in Washington State when I lived in the US in the late 70s and early 80s. It certainly is one of the most scenic places anywhere:

Sierra Medoc - A classic reefer in Øresund

The Sierra Medoc was built in 1994.

The Maltese registry reefer Sierra Medoc (134 m x 18 m) was this morning in the Sound on its way to St. Petersburg. These classic reefers are becoming an "endangered species".
