This is the dark season here in Scandinavia, but fortunately there are still a number of flowers around brightening up the darkness:
Catastrophes, wars, terrorism, ecological disasters, deadly diseases, poverty .... The list of tragedies - both personal and public - is endless. Every day and hour media, politicians, experts - and charlatans - bring us a never ending barrage of bad things. No wonder that many people feel depressed and weary. This blog tries - in a modest and personal way - to contribute to a more balanced view. After all, there is so much to appreciate and enjoy in life ...

The Marienlyst hotel in Helsingør
I can see Hotel Casino Marienlyst on the Danish side of Öresund from my living room every day (except on very foggy days). A couple of days ago I took the ferry to Helsingør in order to have a closer look:

Hotel Marienlyst is beautifully located on the waterfront. |

This wooden path is convenient when guests want to swim in the clean Øresund water. |

Immediately to the north of the hotel there are many beautiful private villas. |

Late October flower
Colourful flowers, like the one below, are nice to have when the we are approaching the darkest weeks of the year ...
The equestrian Magnus Stenbock in Helsingborg
The equestrian statue of Magnus Stenbock is a landmark in Helsingborg. Stenbock was Governor-General of Scania. He led the Swedish troops to victory in the Battle of Helsingborg (1710), the last battle between Denmark and Sweden in Scania.
