Norwegian cargo steamer B. A. Broch in 1904

 Norwegian cargo steamer B.A. Broch photographed as brand new in Kristiania (Oslo) in July, 1904. The 216.3 ft (c. 63 m.) 878 brt ship was built by Akers mek. Verksted, Kristiania, for A/S B. A. Broch, Kristiania. My restoration and colorization of Anders B. Wilse´s original image in the Norwegian Maritime Museum archive.

B. A. Broch later had three other Norwegian owners. On October 14. 1916, when she sailed for the last owner, Rederi-A/S Granat (K. M. Pedersen), renamed Rabbi, carrying coal from Swansea (Wales) to Rouen (France) she was captured and scuttled by the German submarine UB18. The crew abandoned the ship in lifeboats, and were later saved by another Norwegian steamer.

Buenos Aires - A Swedish cargo ship from 1920

The cargo ship Buenos Aires, launched in 1920, was the pride of its Swedish owners, Rederi A.B. Nordstjernan. The photo - here with my colouring - was published in the 

book "Svensk sjöfart" in 1921.

Cruise ship Disney Magic early in the morning

Cruise ship Disney Magic was early this morning (at 5 AM) in Öresund on its way to Copenhagen.

The small cargo ship on the left is the Hagland Boss.

The small Danish veteran cargo ship Saturn in Öresund today

One of my ship favourites, the small Danish freighter Saturn, was late this afternoon in Öresund on its way to Stettin. The weather was quite hazy, and Saturn sailed close to the Danish coast, so I was not able to get a very detailed picture:

The 54 x 19 m Saturn was built already in 1966, but it is still in active duty.

The brand new steamship "Teutonia" (early 20th century)

A little more than one hundred years ago the photographer asked people to pose in front of the then brand new Swedish cargo steamer "Teutonia". Judging from the picture, two people did not follow the photographer´s request to stand still ... :-)
