Motor yacht La Paloma and its builders (1910)

The builders posing at the launching of motor yacht "La Paloma" in Örebro in 1910. The owner, mill owner, engineer Carl Engelbrektsson is on the right with a rope. His sweater is marked with the name of the boat and the letter KAK (Kungliga Automobil Klubben - The Royal Automobile Club). At that time the KAK activities also included motor boats. My colorization of court photographer Samuel Lindskog´s photo in the Swedish Digital Museum.

King Gustaf V of Sweden as a hunter

King Gustaf V of Sweden ready for the moose hunt at the Haddebo manor close to Örebro in 1911. The king was a regular participant at the hunts organized at the manor. The photo by court photographer Samuel Lindskog - here shown with my colorization - is in the Swedish Digital Museum (Örebro läns museum) archive.

"Gustaf V (Oscar Gustaf Adolf; 16 June 1858 – 29 October 1950) was King of Sweden from 1907 until his death in 1950. He was the eldest son of King Oscar II of Sweden and Sophia of Nassau, a half-sister of Adolphe, Grand Duke of Luxembourg. Reigning from the death of his father Oscar II in 1907 until his own death 43 years later, he holds the record of being the oldest monarch of Sweden and the third-longest reigning after Magnus IV and Carl XVI Gustaf. He was also the last Swedish monarch to exercise his royal prerogatives, which largely died with him, although formally abolished only with the remaking of the Swedish constitution in 1974. He was the first Swedish king since the High Middle Ages not to have a coronation and hence never wore a crown, a tradition continuing to date." --
" An avid hunter and sportsman, he presided over the 1912 Olympic Games and chaired the Swedish Association of Sports from 1897 to 1907. Most notably, he represented Sweden (under the alias of Mr G.) as a competitive tennis player, keeping up competitive tennis until his 80s, when his eyesight deteriorated rapidly."

Steamer Asbury Park (1903-1905)

Steamer Asbury Park, photographed in New York in 1903 - 1905. The 91 m long steamer, built by William Cramp & Sons in Philadelphia, entered service in 1903. My colorization of a picture in the Library of Congress archive (Detroit Publishing Co. collection).
"Asbury Park was a high-speed coastal steamer built in Philadelphia, and intended to transport well-to-do persons from New York to summer homes on the New Jersey shore. This vessel was sold to West Coast interests in 1918, and later converted to an automobile ferry, serving on various routes San Francisco Bay, Puget Sound and British Columbia. This vessel was known by a number of other names, including City of Sacramento, Kahloke, Langdale Queen, and Lady Grace." --
"The Jersey Central had a fleet of steamships which it operated from New York to points along the coast of New Jersey. Asbury Park was considered a prestige vessel and was the flagship of the Jersey Central fleet. The vessel was intended to attract wealthy patrons from New York's financial district, who would use the ship to reach their summer homes on the New Jersey shore.""With a speed of over 20 knots, she operated during the summer season between the north Jersey Shore and New York City. However, her size and speed made her ill-suited to the route, and she lacked manoeuvrability in the congested waters of New York harbour. With the decline in traffic during the First World War she was laid up during the 1917 and 1918 summer seasons." (Wikipedia)
