Portrait of Yuja Wang

Chinese pianist Yuja Wang is one of my favourite musicians.
Here is "my" take of Wang making music:

Lychees - once favourites of the Imperial Court in China

Lychee fruits were once favoured in China, particularly by the Imperial Court:

In the 1st century, fresh lychees were in such demand at the Imperial Court that a special courier service with fast horses would bring the fresh fruit from Guangdong. There was great demand for lychee in the Song Dynasty (960-1279), according to Cai Xiang, in his Li chi pu (Treatise on Lychees). It was also the favourite fruit of Emperor Li Longji (Xuanzong)'s favoured concubine Yang Yuhuan (Yang Guifei). The emperor had the fruit delivered at great expense to the capital. Conductor Tung-Chieh Chuang and pianist Per Tengstrand in Helsingborg

Last night the excellent Helsingborg Symphony Orchestra performed Rachmaninoff´s second piano concerto with the eminent Swedish pianist Per Tengstrand as soloist. The young Taiwanese conductor Tung-Chieh Chuang, winner of the important Malko competition in 2015, also made his - very successful - debut in Helsingborg.

Moon over Denmark

Last week the moon over the northern parts of Helsingør looked quite nice, so I decided to take picture standing on my balcony, on the Swedish side of Öresund ... :-)
